Grade 6 Camp
Term 2 ended on a high for our Grade 6 students, who attended Camp Club Lorne for two nights. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build independence and create lasting memories with their peers.
During camp, students took part in a wide range of activities, including learning to boogie board and surf, reading the ocean and identifying signs of a rip, and developing important beach safety skills such as swimming between the flags and how to assist someone in trouble in the water. Students also learned how to perform CPR, participated in a mini surf carnival, and enjoyed a beach nature walk, a bush walk to Teddy’s Lookout, a night walk and a movie night.
For many students, catching a wave on a boogie board or surfboard was a brand new experience. It was wonderful to see their confidence in the water grow, along with their grit and determination. The smiles on students’ faces when they caught their first wave or stood up on their board were priceless.
A big thank you to our staff for organising and leading the camp, our superstar parent helpers for their incredible support, and our students, who represented the school with respect and enthusiasm and embraced every opportunity.
