On Wednesday, March 19 Mullauna’s three teams in the Debating Association of Victoria’s inter-school competition went to Tintern Grammar to continue our proud tradition of taking it up to schools from across the Ringwood region.
All the debaters represented Mullauna well!
In their match against Whitefriars College, Year 11s Floyd, Teiva and Oliver argued strongly that all school and university exams should be open-book. They showed impressive resilience by coping with the last-minute withdrawal of Caitlin because of illness. Caitlin passed her speech on to the team and Oliver took up the challenge of participating in his first inter-school debate with very little chance to prepare. Teiva also showed her resilience in moving to 3rd speaker.
Year 10s Bella, Ethan and Georgia argued that tickets to all sporting events should be free. They did well but were narrowly beaten by Yarra Valley Grammar. They were coached by Ms Davidson.
In their first interschool debate, Year 9s Kasper, April and Grey also did well but were narrowly beaten by Donvale Christian College. They had argued that the government should prohibit businesses from being cashless. Mr Graham was their coach.
