Grandparent's Day - Feast of Sts Joachim & Anne
This year we celebrated our Grandparent and Special Visitor's Day on the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, Jesus' grandparents, and Mary's parents.
We began our day with a special liturgy filmed and shared in our classrooms. If you were unable to attend, the liturgy is attached below. Thank you to our students who read and led this for us.
Mary Mackillop
Thursday, the 8th of August is the Feast of Mary Mackillop of the Cross, Australia's first saint. Mary was born in Melbourne on 15th January, 1842. She worked to support her poor family in a stationery business before becoming a school teacher, and then a nun. She started an order of nuns called the Sisters of St. Joseph. Mary MacKillop made a difference in the lives of Catholic Australians in the early days of our country’s history.
Students will recognise the day through classroom activities and as a school, we will gather for a liturgy to begin the assembly on Friday 9th August at 2:30 pm. We hope to see you all there!
