Grandparents and Special Visitors Day!

Last Friday we hosted our annual Grandparents and Special Visitors day on the Feast Day of St Joachim and Anne - Jesus' Grandparents! It was a lovely day where our students welcomed their special guests into our school, they enjoyed a special Liturgy prepared by Miss Bishop and then each classroom was buzzing with activities from craft, colouring in, quizzes, question and answer time, airplane throwing competitions, kitchen/garden, scavanger hunts and wanders through the school grounds including the very popular garden. We thank our Grandparents and special visitors for coming to this special day and we hope everyone enjoyed their special time together.

Together We Walk - Opening the Doors Fundraising Event

At St Augustine's we are part of the FIRE (Friends Igniting Reconciliation in Education) Carrier Program, facilitated by the Opening the Doors Foundation. The dream of the FIRE Carrier program is to promote respect, fairness, and inclusion for First Nations People in Education.

As part of our commitment, we fundraise each year to support the Opening Doors Foundation. The Foundation is a First Nations-run grass-roots organisation which supports First Nations students across Victoria to attend the school of their choice with all necessary supplies.

Today we participated in the Together We Walk Event. As a whole school, students were invited to bring a gold coin donation and to wear casual clothes in the colours of the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island flag. Led by our Fire Carriers we walked together as a school around the grounds - displaying banners promoting reconciliation designed by each class.

Donations can still be made via the fundraising page below.

St A's Games

To get into the spirit of the Paris Games, we are holding our own Olympic competition at school.

At the halfway point, we have Nirnuk in the gold medal place, however, it is a close competition so anyone can win with lots of events still to happen!
