Year 9 SAP had a busy Term 2, preparing their Community Projects to serve various local organisations around Langwarrin.

Each Year 9 SAP class was assigned a community organisation that they visited early in Term 2 to research and find out about the organisations' needs.

Students then practiced a variety of real-life skills such as communication, teamwork, planning and organisation, to prepare and pull off their project plan to serve the community group.

Students were involved in a huge variety of ways - from teaching Grade 5's about friendship, playing board games with nursing home residents, gardening and maintenance at local churches and retirement villages, and raising donations and funds for Scouts and Peninsula Donations. Students taught gymnastics skills to pre-schoolers, made milkshakes with adults with disabilities, and expressed artistic skills with a mural for the Community Centre.

All of our community groups were grateful and impressed by the way our students conducted themselves.

As a college we are immensely grateful to the wonderful local community organisations that partner with our school to provide our students with such rich real-life learning environments.
