Hairdressing Industry Immersion Event @ EMC
On Friday 17th July, 2026, a group of 12 Year 9 and Year 10 students from Elisabeth Murdoch College students participated in the Head Start Hairdressing Industry Immersion event held at the college’s purpose-built industry-standard Hairdressing salon.
Lead by Head Start Coordinator and Qualified Hairdresser Faith Kisby, along with Emily Stocker, qualified Hairdresser and Cert II Salon Assistant Educator at EMC, students participated in a 4-hour hands on workshop where they experienced the following:
- Bleaching demonstration where Kai Amery (EMC student teacher) was used as a model. The students were taken through the process of how to bleach hair effectively whilst abiding work and safety practices.
- Hairstyling, braiding, and heat styling techniques
- Conversation about the Hairdressing Industry and pathways into the industry.
Students had a great time and came away with an insight into the hairdressing industry, increased knowledge as to what it takes to become a great hairdresser, and most importantly - great hair!
