Introducing the Fit 4 Change Collective
Bailey Webster (Year 10) has taken a leap of faith, jumping into the world of business with the aim of making positive social change when it comes to youth mental health. Here is the story of how the Fit 4 Change Collective came to be in his own words.
I’m a proud 17-year-old Co-Founder of Fit 4 Change Collective, a youth-led Australian social enterprise turning creativity into change.
As a young person with lived experience of mental health challenges, I’ve seen firsthand the gaps that exist in youth mental health support across Australia. Through my involvement in youth advisory councils over the past four years, I’ve had the opportunity to advocate for issues that matter to young people and contribute to important conversations around mental health.
These experiences have shown me that while awareness is growing, there is still a real need for action. Rather than waiting for change, I wanted to be part of creating it—helping build something that not only raises awareness but also contributes to meaningful, tangible solutions for young people.
Fit 4 Change Collective was started in response to the growing youth mental health crisis in Australia, and the recognition that too many young people feel unheard, unsupported, or unable to access the help they need. The idea came from a desire to create something meaningful that could both raise awareness and actively contribute to improving outcomes for young people.
Through creative initiatives like wearable art and a youth-produced magazine, the collective provides a platform for young voices to share their stories, spark conversations, and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health. At its core, the project is about empowering young people to express themselves, connect with others, and realise they are not alone in their experiences.
A key part of Fit 4 Change Collective is its focus on impact. Every product sold contributes to supporting youth and mental health organisations, helping fund services, resources, and support systems for young people who need them most. The goal is not just to start conversations, but to be part of a broader solution.
Fit 4 Change Collective was ultimately created to bring together creativity, community, and purpose—giving young people a voice while working towards real, lasting change in youth mental health.
