Junior School Update

With Mrs Fiona Clark

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 2. We hope you enjoyed a restful break over the holidays and were able to spend quality time together as a family, making the most of the beautiful weather and recharging for what promises to be another busy and rewarding term.

Foundation Taster Morning

A key focus in the Junior School this term will be our Foundation Taster Morning on Tuesday 12 May. This is a wonderful opportunity for prospective families with a child entering Foundation in 2027 to see our school in action. Registrations are essential and can be made via this link: https://www.cags.vic.edu.au/enrolment/foundation-taster

If you know of any friends or family with a child starting Foundation in 2027, please let them know they are most welcome to come along to this morning.

Junior School “Mayfair”

Our Junior School “Mayfair” discovery morning will be held on Sunday 24 May. This is a new event introduced this year with the intention of providing current and prospective Junior School families with the chance to explore Cobram AGS, enjoy some lunch, and take part in fun activities such as face painting and jumping castles. Staff will be available throughout the morning to answer any questions. More information about this event will be provided next week.

Cross Country

Our whole-school Cross Country will take place on Thursday 7 May. This is always a fantastic community event, with many families coming along to support our students.

A highlight of the day is seeing our Foundation students take part in their very first sports carnival. Watching them run alongside older students—especially as they sprint towards the finish line—is always a heartwarming moment. It is also terrific to see students proudly representing their House colours.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

We warmly invite mothers, grandmothers and special guests to join us for our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday 8 May. It’s a much-loved event, and students always enjoy sharing this special time with you at school.

Labelling Uniform Items

As the cooler weather sets in, we kindly ask families to ensure all clothing items are clearly named.

Buddies Program

Throughout Term 1, our Foundation students greatly enjoyed spending time with their Year 6 buddies, building connections and participating in a range of activities together. It is wonderful for our youngest students to have another friendly face to greet in the playground. This term, our Foundation and Year 6 classes will come together for the much-anticipated Buddy Games. This highlight event, scheduled for later in the term, will see students take part in a series of fun, non-competitive activities that promote fairness, honesty, friendliness and cooperation.
