Live Production Ensemble update:

This ‘ensemble’ is quickly growing and is an amazing opportunity for students to learn about sound engineering and lighting production including important stage set up for concerts and live performances.

Please note change of time: from Term 2, this ensemble will meet with Mr Jones on Wednesday afternoons at 3:10 pm in the Band Room.

All ensembles: Please remember to check Clipboard for any weekly changes to rehearsals.

Concert Club, commencing Term 2:

We have organised a limited number of tickets to the following Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) concerts next term. These will be made available to Elective Music students in the first instance via Clipboard at an introductory subsidised rate, before being offered to our wider Performing Arts student body.

HSC Major Works Day:

Our first Major Works Day, held on Wednesday 1 April,  offers our HSC Music 1, Music 2, and Music Extension students a valuable and focused opportunity to rehearse in depth with their accompanists, supporting their preparation for the first performance assessment of the year. This dedicated day not only fosters confidence and refinement in performance but also provides essential time for students to engage more deeply with their individual areas of study. Students are encouraged to make focus on their composition and musicology projects, allowing them to develop their ideas with greater clarity and artistic intent in line with their chosen specialisation.

Performing Arts Dates Term 1:

Week 10 – Wednesday 1/4 – Year 12 Major Works Day #1 (including Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension assessment).

Year 7: Exemplary Work

Here are some more examples of exemplary work from the Year 7: Day in the Life assessment. Casper has shared his stop-motion animation whilst Thomas created a retro scratch cartoon. You can see those movies by clicking on the videos. Also included is Ronan’s creative cartoon. I will never eat at a sushi restaurant in the same way again!

Year 7: Double Figures

This week, Year 7 students have been exploring character development and improvisational techniques, culminating in the creation and performance of their Double Figures characters. In this activity, two actors work together to embody a single character, an “expert” on a delightfully silly topic such as snail racing or Christmas‑tree decorating. This collaborative challenge encourages students to think quickly, listen closely, and build strong performance chemistry. Their characters were showcased in two formats: as podcasters speaking to their followers, and in a more formal interview setting.
