Bible Liturgy
The Junior School participated in their Bible Liturgy where lovely Bibles with encyclopaedias were presented to each of the students.
The importance of using the words of Jesus in our everyday life was a key message of the liturgy, and students were encouraged to look to the Parables for ways to treat other people.
Using a Bible is a great way to increase literacy as well as build on developing a healthy understanding of the Gospel values which we instil at school.
Year 11 Formation Day
Year 11 students will be attending their Formation Day at Oxford Falls on Friday 27 March. They are to arrive at school at the usual time and will be bused there.
The theme of the day is 'The Masks we Wear' and students will hear from a keynote speaker. They will look at the idea of their authentic self, and masks they may wear in various aspects of their lives.
They may wear smart casual clothing (no ripped/torn clothing and no inappropriate words or images) or their sport uniform. They also must wear closed-in shoes.
EREBB Global Youth Dialogue
Twelve students participated in an international Zoom meeting with students from 14 countries around the world including Canada, USA, Peru, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Liberia, Ireland, England, India, and Australia (Brisbane, Canberra, Wollongong, Adelaide, Melbourne).
Br David Silva is the Global Deputy Congregational Leader of the Christian Brothers and spoke from Rome about Edmund Rice who heard, saw and gave.
HEARD: Br David spoke of the constant bombarding of noise from social media and digital connection and said there was “power in going offline and listening”.
SAW: Edmund Rice noticed what others ignored. He saw with his heart, with compassion. Br David encouraged students to 'see what others see, and see what others choose not to see.' He encouraged them to enter into dialogue and be willing to sit and listen to people.
GAVE: Br David spoke of the mutually liberating nature of serving others - 'something happens to our hearts also.' It is transformative for the server.
Students then went into breakout rooms with other students from around the world and were able to talk about student led initiatives running in a variety of schools. It was wonderful to see the excitement and hear the chatter in the room, and we look forward to more engagement in the future with brother schools around the globe.
