STSS

Welcome back to Term 3!  We are looking forward to another exciting term of learning with our students in the Science and Technologies curriculum areas. This term, all year levels will explore the Physical Sciences while continuing their learning in Digital and Design Technologies.

Foundation - Year 2 

This term, our junior students will begin to investigate how things work in the world around them by exploring forces and motion. They will discover how an object's size, shape and the material it is made from can affect what it does, and how pushes and pulls can make objects start, stop, speed up, slow down, change direction or even change shape. Learning will take place through fun, hands on investigations and play based experiences.

Year 3 - 4 

Our middle years students will explore heat energy and how it is produced and transferred. They will investigate different sources of heat and discover how heat can move from one object to another, causing changes in temperature. These investigations will support students to observe, question and explore how heat affects the world around them.

Year 5 - 6 

This term, senior students will explore light energy and how it interacts with the world around them. They will investigate how light is produced from different sources and discover that light travels in straight paths, creating shadows and interacting with objects in different ways. Through these learning experiences, students will observe, question and explore how light can be absorbed, transmitted, reflected and refracted.

Finally, our students have done an amazing job in their Science and Technologies learning so far this year. Attached are a few photos showcasing their learning, which was displayed at the Specialist Learning Expo during the Term 2 Parent Teacher Interviews. 

We look forward to another exciting term of supporting and engaging students as they continue to explore the Science and Technologies curriculum.
