Exeat weekend
As we approach our exeat weekend at the end of Week 5, here is some important information regarding boarding arrangements.
The exeat will take place from Friday 14 August to Sunday 16 August. Please note that Friday 14 August is a student-free day for all boarders. As a result, all residences will close at 4pm on Thursday 13 August, and no boarders will be permitted to remain in residence on Thursday night.
Boarding residences will reopen from 4pm on Sunday 16 August. We understand that flight availability may require some students to arrive in Cairns earlier on Sunday. Arrangements will be made to collect these students from the airport if required; however, access to residences will not be available until 4pm.
Should you have any questions about these arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant head of residence or me.
I ask families to email return flight itineraries to the relevant head of residence or me as soon as they are available.
Weekends in boarding
Each term, boarding offers three opportunities for boarders to submit leave requests to spend a weekend with approved family members or friends.
During all other weekends, boarders are expected to remain in residence. Heads of residence and I understand that there may be exceptional family circumstances that require a boarder to be absent at specific times during these weekends. However, outside of free and exeat weekends, all boarders are expected to be in residence unless prior approval has been granted.

Boarding visits
Earlier this week we visited Thursday Island for our boarding trip, and this was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our current families and to speak with students from the local primary school.
A highlight of these trips is the meal we share with families in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

SMC Formal
Our boarding girls enjoyed a wonderful night full of fun and memories at the St Monica’s Senior Formal at the casino, on the final night of Term 2. The girls looked very elegant in their dresses and were well supported by many Saints boys.
