Prep News

The Prep students have been doing exceptionally well this term. They are building strong friendships and developing their social skills through a variety of collaborative learning experiences. It has been wonderful to see them working together, supporting one another, and enjoying shared tasks both in and out of the learning space.
π΄ Pyjama Day
π Literacy
In Literacy, the students have been learning to identify the characters and setting in a story, as well as recognise the beginning, middle, and end. Through a range of engaging texts such as The Very Brave Bear by Nick Bland and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems, they are developing their understanding of story structure and building their comprehension skills.
π€ Phonics
The students are now moving into Stage 3 sounds, with a focus on the letters βyβ, βrβ and βeβ. They have made excellent progress in their reading and spelling of consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they apply their knowledge of sounds and letters to both reading and writing activities.
Β
It has been great to see that so much reading has been happening at home. Please continue to read regularly with your child and record this in your childβsΒ take home journal. Congratulations to the many students who have recorded 25 and 50 nights of reading.
π’ Mathematics
In Mathematics, the students are learning to count forwards and backwards to 20 using a range of concrete materials. Through hands-on activities they are developing their number sense and building confidence in recognising, ordering, and working with numbers.
βοΈ Religion
In Religion, the students have been learning about the key events of Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Through discussions, stories, and activities, they have explored what it may have felt like for Jesus' disciples to be filled with the Holy Spirit and how this event helped them share God's message with others.
π Inquiry
In Inquiry, the students have been designing and constructing boats using a variety of materials to help the Gingerbread Man travel safely across the water. They have enthusiastically explored different materials and used their problem-solving skills to make improvements. It has been wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork, and perseverance throughout this learning experience.
