Grade 3/4 – Donvale Democracy
The Grade 3/4 students recently participated in a special "Donvale Democracy" session, learning firsthand about how decisions are made in our community.
We were fortunate to welcome the Member for Warrandyte, Honourable Nicole Werner, who spoke to students about her important role in representing community members and helping make decisions that benefit the local area. Students listened attentively as Nicole explained how democracy works and why it is important for everyone's voice to be heard.
Following Nicole's presentation, our Student Leaders took centre stage and presented several ideas and initiatives they would like to implement for Donvale Primary School. Students carefully considered each proposal before participating in a vote.
Using the democratic process, students cast their votes and had the opportunity to make their voices count. The experience provided a valuable lesson in citizenship, leadership, and the importance of participating in decision-making.
We are proud of the thoughtful discussions, respectful participation, and enthusiasm shown by all students as they engaged in this authentic democratic experience.
