Principals' Message

Mrs Michelle Rassias and Mr Beau Robertson

Our Curriculum Day on Friday, 5 June was a very productive and positive one. Our focus was on Assessment and Reporting, with staff moderating student writing work samples, triangulating assessment data and collaborating to ensure consistent and accurate teacher judgements for Semester 1 reports.

Donvale Democracy

On Tuesday, Donvale Primary School proudly presented our first ever Donvale Democracy ...  or school Parliament. It was a wonderful event which showcased our passion for supporting and amplifying student voice in making our school an even better place.

We were grateful to have the Honourable Nicole Werner, Member for Warrandyte, officially open our parliament with some fascinating words about what it means to be a parliamentarian and how leadership means to serve others. Many of our students hold, have held, or will hold leadership positions, and it was a great message to come away with.

Our Student Voice Leaders (grades 3-6) then presented "bills" to the 3-6 cohort which have come from ideas from the students during fortnightly Class Meetings. Ideas included:

  • Fresh food options at canteen.
  • Having students sort lost property.
  • Improving our basketball and netball facilities.
  • Installing permanent soccer goals.
  • One free dress day per term.
  • Starting a Donvale Dancers club run by students.

All 3-6 students then voted and successful "bills" will be brought to School Council to bring to life.

We are so proud of all of the students who showed courage, resilience, passion (and a good deal of humour) in delivering their speeches.

May Attendance Update

Please have a look over Donvale Primary School's Attendance Data for the Month of May. A number of family holidays and the start of the Winter "bugs" has meant that, for the first time this year, we have dropped below one of our attendance goals (for overall attendance to be over 92%).

We thank each of our families for continuing to support students to come to school ready and on time for learning at 9.00am.

If there are issues affecting your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact their classroom teacher, Michelle or Beau.
