Year 12 Wellbeing Lunch Celebration
Wellbeing Team Report
Each year, the Wellbeing Team hosts a special lunch at the start of Semester 2 for our Year 12 students. This year’s celebration took place on Thursday, 24 July, marking a moment to recognise the achievements, effort and perseverance of our graduating cohort as they enter their final semester at Reservoir High School.
The afternoon featured a delicious BBQ lunch, made possible through the generosity of our community partners. We gratefully acknowledge Preston Rotary for the sausages, Bakers Delight Summerhill for their bread donation, Big Fields Summerhill for fresh fruit and vegetables, and Direct Chemist Outlet Summerhill for additional items. Their contributions ensured we could provide both students and staff with a wonderful shared meal.
A highlight of the event was the personalised “Admiration and Strengths” cards - handwritten notes from teachers and staff celebrating each student’s unique qualities. Staff were invited to write about any students they had come to know during their time at RHS, noting their strengths, admirable traits, and personal impact. Watching students read these heartfelt messages was a joy, and we hope they serve as lasting reminders of their growth and accomplishments. Students also received small gift bags filled with items of encouragement for the months ahead.
We were pleased to welcome members of Darebin Youth Services, a dedicated team of youth and social workers who shared information about the valuable programs and projects they run for young people in our community.
A huge thank you goes to Liz Harris and Matt Atkins for their efforts in preparing platters and cooking more than 500 sausages and veggie burgers, and to Denis Sutton for setting up the BBQ. We also appreciate the help of students Caitlin Irvine and Jamielee Barden-Sattler in setting up and assembling the gift bags.
Finally, thank you to every member of the Wellbeing Team for playing their part in making this such a positive and enjoyable occasion. We hope our Year 12s left the lunch feeling celebrated, encouraged, and ready to power through the final chapter of their high school journey.
