Acting Principal's Report

A message from the Acting Principal

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope everyone had a restful break and is ready for another exciting and productive term. As we reflect on the final two weeks of Term 2, it’s clear that our school community ended the semester on a high note.

The final fortnight of Term 2 was packed with energy and enthusiasm, marking the beginning of Semester 2 and setting the tone for what’s to come.

Cultural Diversity Week was a vibrant and joyful celebration of the many cultures that make up our school. The highlight was undoubtedly the whole-school assembly, where students proudly wore traditional dress and shared performances that showcased their heritage. A standout moment was the Vietnamese bamboo dance – a traditional game that had everyone cheering and smiling. It was a beautiful reminder of the richness and unity within our diverse community.

Another memorable event was the inaugural Reservoir High School vs Victorian Police basketball match. In a thrilling game, our students showed incredible teamwork and spirit, ultimately defeating the police team by 4 points. It was a fantastic display of sportsmanship and school pride!

Our Year 10 students also had a valuable experience during their Work Experience placements, gaining insights into various industries and beginning to explore future career pathways. The feedback from employers was overwhelmingly positive, and we’re proud of how our students represented Reservoir High School.

Term 3 has kicked off with a flurry of activity. Students have participated in a range of sporting events and final rehearsals are underway for our school production, “The Day the Internet Died.” We can’t wait to see the culmination of months of hard work and creativity on stage.

Year 12 students are entering their final stretch, with only one full term left before exams begin. Their focus and determination are commendable, and we’ll continue to support them every step of the way.

A selection of students also took part in PISA testing, contributing to important international research on education. Meanwhile, Years 9–11 students have begun the Course Counselling process, supported by Parent Information Evenings to help guide their subject selections for 2026.

We’re pleased to share that NAPLAN results have been released and once again Reservoir High has performed strongly. These results reflect the dedication of our students and staff and the ongoing commitment to academic excellence.

Finally, we’ve held Parent-Student-Teacher interviews, providing a valuable opportunity to discuss student progress and set goals for the remainder of the year. Thank you to all families who attended and continue to support their children’s learning journey.

As we begin Term 3, we’d like to wish Katie Watmough a well-deserved break. We hope she enjoys a wonderful holiday with her family as they embark on their European adventures. I’m looking forward to stepping into the role of Acting Principal during her absence and continuing to lead our wonderful school community with pride and enthusiasm.

Here’s to a successful and inspiring Term 3!

Warm regards,

Jodie Purches
