Year Three/Four News

Year 3/4 Weekly Learning Update

It has been another busy and exciting week of learning in Year 3/4!

Here is a look at what students have been learning across the curriculum.

Reading

Students have been comparing the texts No Words and The Little Refugee. They have been learning to compare how authors use language to create images in readers’ minds and explain how the mood changes throughout each story.

Writing

Students have been publishing their Writers’ Festival short stories. They have been carefully editing and revising their drafts before completing their good copies. Students have chosen how they would like to publish their stories, with options including a picture storybook, a novel, or a novel with a map.

Students are very excited to share their writing at this year’s Writers’ Festival!

Maths

In Maths, students have been learning about measurement. They have particularly enjoyed exploring length, perimeter and area. Students have had the opportunity to use a range of measuring tools, including 30 cm rulers, measuring tapes, 1 m rulers and measuring wheels.

Humanities

Students are learning to interpret health messages in our community and understand how these messages can influence our choices and behaviours. They have explored a range of health messages and campaigns, including Smile Squad, Slip Slop Slap, Walk to School, Kids Alive and Responsible Pet Ownership.
