Overnewton’s Festival of Music - What an incredible Event!
The Festival of Music winds up today with performances of Seussical at 4:30pm and 6:30pm by the Season 2 Year 5/6 cast. We congratulate them on their entertaining performance last night and look forward to their final performances today.
On Monday, the Choral Concert was a beautiful celebration featuring College vocalists from Year 1 to Year 12. The combined performances of Wominjeka (“Welcome”) and the Blessing Song were particularly memorable. Hearing 250 voices lifted together in song was truly inspiring.
Last Wednesday, the rock tradition of Out of the Blue was enhanced by the move to a new venue. Musicland provided an authentic live music setting for the College’s rock bands to demonstrate their skill, creativity and musicianship. There were many highlights, including the “superband’s” performance of Golden and EJPJ’s original instrumental compositions.
Together with Celebration of Strings, Oliver!, Bands in Concert and the VCE Concert, the Festival has showcased the remarkable breadth and depth of the Music program at Overnewton.
Congratulations to all the students, their music directors and supporting teachers who have contributed to this year’s Festival. Special thanks to Prue Jury, for her oversight of the concerts, and Cailin McCarthy, for her leadership of the musicals.
What a wonderful celebration of music-making across the College!

Register for Instrumental/vocal lessons in Term 4
Now is the perfect time to register for music lessons at the College. The offering is as follow - acoustic guitar, cello, clarinet, double bass, drumkit, electric bass, electric guitar, euphonium, flute, french horn, piano, saxophone, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin and voice. Theory lessons are also available.
