Physical Education & Sport
Term 3, 2026
At the beginning of Term 3, our Grade 1 and 2 students explored AFL throughout their PE lessons. They broke down each skill present in AFL such as handballing, kicking to each other, marking and kicking into the goals. Our Grade 1 and 2 students also had the opportunity to participate in an AFL clinic that was run by students from SEDA college. In this clinic, the students participated in a range of different activities and games which targeted handballing practice, tackling practice and even some mini games! As the term progressed, our students started to focus on bouncing basketballs and focused on how to control the balls while moving. Students practiced this through different activities and challenges which allowed them to master their skills while having fun. Towards the end of the term, the Grade 1 and 2 students began to revisit their soccer skills. Over multiple lessons, the students re-explored dribbling, passing, goals shooting and how to work together to score in soccer matches.

To start off the term, our Grade 3 and 4 students explored and practiced their tennis skills. Throughout the tennis unit, the students worked hard to improve their serving, rallying and scoring skills. With the sport being new to a few students, it is now a favourite! After the students worked on their tennis skills, they moved on to Cricket. With some similarities between the two sports, students were able to improve their cricket skills quickly, allowing them to participate in a range of different cricket games throughout their PE lessons. Students not only practiced their batting and striking skills, they also explored bowling and fielding and how it is implemented into cricket matches. As the term comes to a close, students will finish exploring a range of different invasion games and mastering how to create space and work together.
To commence the term, our Grade 5 and 6 students also began with Tennis. Students were able to participate in matches and practice their rallying, serving and scoring. As the term continued, the students were able to participate in a soccer clinic over two sessions that was delivered by Footballs Victoria. This allowed students to learn new skills and participate in games delivered by an external coach. To conclude the term, the Grade 5 and 6 students also explored their cricket skills such as batting and striking, fielding and bowling. Throughout this unit, the students were able to participate in cricket matches and further develop their cricket skills.

Other highlights of Term 3 sport include, the Tag rugby event that allowed a select number of students to further advance their tag rugby skills and participate in matches against other schools. Another highlight of sport in Term 3 is our school Athletics day. This day allowed students from Grade 3-6 to participate in a range of different Athletics events that they had previously learnt in PE class. Some students later went on to compete in these events against students from other schools! Students were awarded points to their house colour for participating and a trophy was awarded to the house with the most points!
