Term 3, 2026
Check out our amazing learning from Term 3, 2026!
In Phonics we learnt and reviewed:
- the name and sounds for the letters s, a, t, p, i, n, m, f, d, o, g, c, k, u, b, e, h, r, l, w, j, y
- how to spell and read 2, 3, and 4 letter words using the taught letters and sounds
In Reading we learnt:
- the features of a non-fiction book
- how to conduct research on Australian animals and some common pets
- how to ask questions before, during and after reading a non-fiction book
- how to summarise facts from a non-fiction book
In Writing we learnt:
- how to spell 2-4 letter words using the sounds we have been learning
- how to write our letters neatly on the line and how to space them evenly along our paper
- how to write a complete sentence using finger spaces, full stops, and capital letters correctly. They are beginning to edit their writing with a red pencil independently!
- how to record facts about Australian animals and some common pets
- how to publish an information text using diagrams, photos and facts
- how to use nouns and verbs in our writing. They have become more proficient at using and identifying these in their own writing!
In Maths we learnt:
- how to solve addition problems using a range of strategies. These included using objects, drawing pictures, counting all, using number lines and counting on.
- how to solve subtraction problems using a range of strategies. These included taking objects away, using the "crossing out" method with pictures, and counting back on a number line.
- how to describe the position of objects including in, on, under, over, beside, next to, between, near, around, in front, and behind.
In SEL we learnt:
- how to be a kind friend
- the importance of sleep to keep us healthy
- about how to use a growth mindset. This means we don't give up, we keep practising, and we problem solve. It is important to use a growth mindset so that our brains get stronger each day.
In Inquiry we learnt all about toys including:
- their features
- their role in our lives
- sharing our favourite toys and explaining why we enjoy them
- how to categorise them
- the difference between toys and not toys (example: shoes, animals, and food are not toys)
- how toys have changed over time
Celebrations
This term we also celebrated our 100th day of school, our Writer's Festival and Book Week!
Thank you to all of our wonderful families who joined us on these special days and helped us celebrate how far our amazing learners have come!
Reminders for Term 4
- All students are required to wear a sun hat outside. NO HAT NO PLAY. Your child will be asked to sit in the shade if they do not have a hat.
- Please label all water bottles, jackets, and hats
- Please arrive by 8:50am every day, ready to learn
- Remember to read every night before bed and practise your heart words
- Please pack a healthy lunch each day that supports your child to focus and grow (This includes: fruits, veggies, a meal, yogurt and/or cheese) Please limit all packaged foods to 1-2 times a week, maximum- they do not support your child's growth and development and cause your child to become unfocussed and disrupt their learning and the learning of others.
