Mission & Faith Life

The Feast of the Annunciation (25 March)
The Annunciation of the Lord is when the Angel Gabriel appears to Mary, announcing that she will conceive Jesus, the Son of God, through the Holy Spirit. Mary, though initially afraid, accepts God’s will with faith and humility. The central focus is the Incarnation: God has become one of us.

Community Mass
A big thank you to Fr Errol, staff, student helpers and our Year 4 and Year 10 families who celebrated our Community Mass before school last week. What a wonderful way to start the day!
Project Compassion - Crazy Hair Day
The Spirit of Salvado has been strong this term! Thank you to all students and staff who took part in our Project Compassion Crazy Hair Day! Your wild and wonderful hairstyles helped raise awareness for those living in poverty, and your generous donations will support initiatives that create lasting change in vulnerable communities.
We still have our BIG Walk for Water this Friday afternoon. Thank you to the wonderful students who have put their hands up to brave the heat for Project Compassion with the hopes of helping poorer communities access clean water.
A huge thank you also to our College community. Through your support of these special events, we have raised over $1000 this LENT as part of our College commitment to ALMSGIVING.
Keep collecting donations in your Project Compassion boxes at home. These boxes can be returned to Student Services by Term 2, Week 2. Donations can also be make online using the following link - https://fundraise.projectcompassion.org.au/o/salvado-catholic-college
Thank you Makshi!
“Love is shown by little things.” – Pope Francis
One of our Year 7 students, inspired by the Project Compassion stories, took the initiative to go out into her community and raise money for Project Compassion. Makshi wrote a wonderful letter to her mum’s work advocating for our College Project Compassion efforts:
“Hi everyone at mum’s work,
At school we are donating money for Project Compassion. Project Compassion is for donating to the people who are in need or poor. This year Project Compassion is teaming up with Salvado Catholic College to help raise money for the poor. I would deeply appreciate if you could support us in raising some money.
Thank you - Makshi”
From this very simple idea of reaching out to others and sharing the Project Compassion stories, Makshi drew attention to a good cause, advocated for the poor in her community and in doing so raised over $45! Such wonderful Salvado Spirit at work!
Holy Week
As we move towards the end of term, we also come to the end of the Lenten Season and enter our school holidays and into Holy Week. Holy Week is a very special time for Christians that commemorates Jesus' last days and crucifixion (death on the cross), and the Resurrection - Jesus rising from the dead on Easter Sunday. This time reminds us that THE CROSS IS A SYMBOL OF HOPE and in this Jubilee year we remember that that hope does not disappoint (Rom 5:5).
To draw attention to this very special time in the Christian calendar, in Week 10 all students will participate in the Stations of the Cross liturgy.
“The Stations of the Cross is one of the most simple, yet powerful, ways to prayerfully walk alongside Jesus and encounter him like never before.” - Dynamic Catholic.

Message of the Holy Father Francis For Lent 2025
This Lenten season, Pope Francis invites us to journey together "attentive to one another in love and patience" and resisting self-absorption. Pope Francis’ message urges us to examine our trust in God, reminding us that the great hope of Christians rests on the resurrection of Jesus. Pope Francis also emphasises that our hope must be lived concretely in a commitment to justice, inclusion and care for our common home.

Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention
In March, we pray for families in crisis.
Let us pray that broken families might discover the cure for their wounds through forgiveness, rediscovering each other's gifts, even in their differences.
