Harmony Week at Salvado Catholic College, students and staff celebrated the rich cultural diversity that makes Australia truly special. Harmony Week is a time to reflect on our shared values of inclusiveness, respect, and belonging—fundamental principles that strengthen our community.
Friday was a particularly meaningful day as it coincided with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD). While Harmony Week is a celebration of diversity, it’s also a call to action—an opportunity to deepen our understanding of racism’s challenges and work together to build a more inclusive society.
The number of college community wearing a ‘splash’ of orange or traditional clothing was impressive, conversations and activities in learning Spaces was a visible sign of embracing diversity and inclusivity.
Year 6 students presented a dynamic news show-style assembly! Covering key events in Australian history, including the arrival of the First Fleet, European settlement, and the creation of states, this performance brings the past to life. This creative performance brought the past to life as our budding historians reported on major events, from the arrival of the First Fleet and the beginnings of European settlement to the fascinating journey of Australia’s transition into a federation with the creation of its states. We all learnt something, thank you Year 6!
We are proud to share the successful completion of the 2025 NAPLAN assessments! Congratulations to all our Year 3 and Year 5 students for their dedication and effort during this important process. Your focus and determination have been impressive.
We also extend our thanks to surrounding learning spaces for maintaining a quiet and respectful environment, as well as to our incredible staff for guiding and supporting our students through these assessments. This teamwork reflects the strength of our community.
Regards,
Mrs Christie Pitman
