End of Year Concert

Congratulations to all students involved in making the End of Year Concert such a great success. The End of Year Concert is our biggest concert of the year when all our music students come together to perform and farewell our Year 12 students at the Frankston Arts Centre. The concert was also Mr Peter Sharp’s last End of Year Concert after 35 years teaching at Frankston. It was an emotional but joyous evening of music and we were all very proud of the student’s efforts. Thank you to everyone throughout the school who supports the students and music department and helps wonderful nights like this be such a success.

Music Captain for 2026

Congratulations to Amity Brumbaugh (Year 11)  who is our new Music Captain for 2026. Amity is an outstanding clarinettist and saxophonist who is in Senior Concert Band, Senior Stage Band and Clarinet Ensemble.

Amity is also doing VCE Music and it feels like she is involved in everything. I looked through the calendar and counted Amity doing 17 different performances this year. Amity will be performing at Presentation Night as well which will make it 18!

Well done Amity.

Lots of other things happening…

This week we had our Junior Concert Band and Training Concert Band travel to Hawthorn Arts Centre for the Victorian Schools Music Festival. Students played for a panel of adjudicators with other schools in the audience and then received a workshop on stage. Our bands sounded amazing and did a great job representing the school.

Also congratulations to our Year 12 VCE students who have been completing their VCE performance exams across Melbourne over the last few weekends. Our Year 11 VCE Music students have also been working hard and performed at our VCE soiree in the Music Centre.

Finally Choir and Clarinet Ensemble recently did a beautiful concert with the community group Voices of Frankston which featured solo performances from Ruby Varney and Amity Brumbaugh. It’s been a big month of music at Frankston High School but we aren’t finished yet. Next month we’re looking forward to our graduation concerts for our Junior and Training Concert Bands which will be held at school, AMEB exams and Presentation Night.
