SENIOR SCHOOL | Update

The Frankston High School Pillars of Excellence, Aspiration and Community are clearly on display across the Senior Campus, with our Year 12 students demonstrating impressive effort and focus as they prepare for and complete their end-of-year examinations. Classrooms and study spaces are alive with students giving their best, supported by teachers who work alongside them, offering guidance and encouragement. The Reflection Room continues to provide a calm and supportive space for students to pause, reset, and refocus, with thoughtful assistance from our Wellbeing Team.
We are proud to announce the 2026 College Captains. Congratulations to School Captains Eliza Patston and Sam Murray, and Deputy Captains Zoe Cross and Alex O’Rourke. We look forward to their leadership and their collaboration with staff and students as they help drive continued growth and improvement across the school in 2026.
Soon we will come together to celebrate the Class of 2025 at their Year 12 Valedictory on Wednesday 19 November. This special evening will recognise every Year 12 VCE and VCE VM student, with awards presented for Excellence, Aspiration and Community, along with the Ampol Best All-Rounder, the Valedictorian, top subject performers, and recipients of our Academic and Optima Awards. It is shaping up to be a fantastic night, and the Senior Team, along with all Frankston High School staff, are looking forward to celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025 with their families and friends.
On Wednesday 5 November, our Year 11 students participated in the Fit2Drive road safety and awareness workshop, facilitated by the Fit2Drive team in partnership with Victoria Police. The session focused on helping students analyse risks, make informed decisions, and understand the non-negotiable realities of road safety. A special thank you to Ms Leanne Milne, Head of Year 11, for organising this valuable learning opportunity for our students.
Our Year 11 students are now preparing to commence their end-of-year Unit 2 examinations. These assessments provide an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and refine their study habits in readiness for Year 12 in 2026. We wish all students the very best as they prepare for and complete their exams.
Included below are some evidence-based study and exam tips to support both students and parents/carers during this time.
- Space out study sessions (Spaced Practice) | Rather than cramming, encourage students to revise content in shorter, focused sessions spread over several days. This helps strengthen memory and understanding over time.
- Use retrieval practice | Testing yourself is one of the most effective ways to learn. Encourage students to quiz themselves, use flashcards, or try explaining key ideas without notes before checking accuracy.
- Focus on understanding, not just memorising | Students should aim to connect new information to what they already know — explaining how and why things work strengthens comprehension and recall.
- Teach it to someone else | Explaining concepts out loud (to a parent, peer, or even the dog!) helps identify gaps in understanding and reinforces learning.
- Use healthy routines | Good sleep, regular exercise, and balanced nutrition have a strong positive impact on focus and exam performance. Short breaks between study blocks also improve concentration.
- Set small, achievable goals | Breaking study into clear, manageable steps helps reduce stress and build motivation. Celebrate progress, not just results.
Early Commencement Program
Year 11 and 12 (2026) studies will commence on Monday 1 December and conclude on Friday 5 December 2025. During this week, students will begin exploring key knowledge and skills for each subject, while also establishing positive connections with their teachers and peers for the year ahead. These relationships play an essential role in fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness.
Students will also be set important learning tasks to complete over the holiday period to support a smooth transition into their 2026 studies. Parents/carers can view these tasks via Compass.
Participation in the Early Commencement Program and completion of all holiday homework are vital for building strong foundations for success in 2026, Optima Semper.
Students are reminded to wear full school uniform in accordance with the Student Dress Code Policy.
