Gymnastics
As mentioned in the last newsletter, I was fortunate enough to secure funding through Sporting Schools. This has allowed us to welcome a coach from a sport of our choice and purchase some new sports equipment. I chose gymnastics this term, and we are fortunate to have Coach Diane from Knox Gymnastics Club joining us for four weeks.
So far, Diane has introduced the students to a range of gymnastics skills, including motorbike landing, pencil jumps, tuck jumps, scorpion kicks, forward rolls, front support and back support, just to name a few! Each week, students build on the skills they have learnt in previous sessions, focusing on using the correct techniques to perform each movement safely.
The students rotate through a circuit of stations, with the trampolines proving to be a very popular piece of equipment!
We look forward to our final session next Thursday.
Enjoy a selection of photos below (and apologies that some are a little blurry due to being action shots!).
Warrandyte Cricket Club
We are very fortunate to partner with local sporting clubs that promote their sports by visiting ACPS and running clinics for our students.
Last Thursday, Peter Burns (Cricket Blast Coordinator) and a group of volunteers from Warrandyte Cricket Club ran a cricket clinic for our Prep–2 students. Despite the hot weather, I was proud to see the students participating, giving it a go and making the most of the experience!
If you are interested in signing your child up for the upcoming season, Cricket Blast runs on the school oval here at ACPS on Friday evenings. Simply scan the QR code on the flyer below for more information and to register.
