Congratulations to all of our students who rehearsed and provided our Grandparents and Special Friends with a variety of performances last week with Auslan, musical instruments, song writing and scarf dancing. I was SO very proud of you all, especially those who pushed themselves out of their comfort zone to give something new a go, even if they felt nervous. It's a great way to grow our brains and mindset, find out how brave we can be and feel the elation and confidence in ourselves afterwards.
We will be having a whole school incursion on 19 Nov at 2:30pm from Kaboom Percussion who will perform and inspire us with recycling and quirky handmade instruments from items commonly available at home.
We are dancing our hearts out in class as we rehearse for our Annual School Christmas Carols on 3 December - SAVE THE DATE! This is a special evening of performances from each grade and special groups with the theme this year "Christmas in our Community". Some of our students will take their performance to the Warrandyte Community Carols the following week.
WOW!! Gavin (Director) and I have watched around 100 videos from 40+ students keen for a main role. This year in particular I have been so happy to see lots of new talent coming through with many students auditioning for the first time. Thank you parents for helping them rehearse and apply - I am very aware that you carried some tech work, childrens' extra emotions and time to get this phase done. We will spend November inviting a small number of students for Call Back Auditions and finalising the main roles. Auditions are required for main roles but all students are welcome to join the ensemble. There are some marvellous roles and songs for the ensemble even if your child isn't appointed to their preferred role. We can't have 30 Flounders! :)The performance will run from 14-16 May 2027 and all students in Grade 1 to Grade 6 next year are welcome to join in. Rehearsals are largely during 1-2 lunchtimes per week for Term 1+2 2027 and will also include the odd weekend/Curriculum day rehearsal. Please see the link in Compass News to register students interested in joining the Cast (incl ensemble) by 22 November. It's going to be another wonderful experience to dip into developing students' creativity, confidence, responsibility and teamwork capably led by Gavin D Andrew with parent and staff support.
