Grade 3 and 4

Term 4 2026

Welcome to Term 4!

We are incredibly excited to welcome all of our students and families back for the final term of the school year. Term 4 promises to keep our momentum going with a packed calendar of learning, laughter, and new opportunities for our students to shine.

We are looking forward to a wonderful array of Term 4 activities and cannot wait for the fantastic weeks ahead.

We look forward to making the absolute most of this final term together, finishing the year on a high note, and celebrating all of our achievements along the way!

Grandparents Day/Special Persons Day

Our community came together for a truly heartwarming morning, during our Grandparents and Special Friends Day. The exceptional turnout made the occasion incredibly vibrant, shining a spotlight on the meaningful figures who guide and care for our students.

A wonderful highlight of the morning was seeing our Year 3/4 students collaborate with their visitors to creatively design and craft their upcoming calendars. This gathering beautifully illustrated the tight-knit spirit of our school and the supportive network that encourages our children every day.

Hoop Time

We have also had students from this cohort proudly represent ACPS at Division Athletics and the Hooptime Finals. It has been wonderful to see our students show such great team spirit, respect for others and a genuine love of participating. I am so proud of the way they represented our school and supported each other along the way!

A big thank you to Miss Buzzini for coaching the Hooptime teams. The students had a fantastic time, and it was great to see their skills, determination and enthusiasm shine through. The boys came up against some tough competition but never gave up and gave it their all!

A special mention to our Grade 3/4 All Star Girls team, who are heading to the Hooptime State Finals in December after winning all their games on Wednesday! What an amazing achievement! We are so proud of all our students and wish the girls the very best of luck at State Finals!

English

Our English sessions continue to spark incredible creativity, with a strong focus on both reading and creative writing.

Our Year 3/4 students have reached Chapter 41 of Escape from Mr Lemoncello's Library, and enthusiasm is at an all-time high as everyone tries to predict the final resolution. Alongside this thrilling daily reading, the students are deeply immersed in crafting their own narrative pieces, focusing on character development and engaging storylines.

Furthermore, the 3/4 students are diligently working through the Spellex program to build strong spelling and decoding strategies, while exploring morphology to discover exactly where our words come from.

Mathematics

In Term 4, our focus has smoothly transitioned over to the concept of time. Our Year 3/4 students are busy developing their ability to tell time to the exact minute on analog and digital clocks, while learning to calculate elapsed time and master both the 12-hour and 24-hour systems. They are also tackling multi-step worded problems to practice converting between units of time—such as minutes, hours, and days—which is helping them build essential real-world scheduling and problem-solving skills.

In financial mathematics, the Bank of 4M has officially closed its doors for the year, with all remaining student transactions successfully completed.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we have been learning all about forces and how they make things move! Through many hands-on experiments, students have explored pushes, pulls, twists, gravity, friction, and magnets. We have also investigated how forces are used in everyday toys and what makes them work. To finish off our learning, students have been putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test by designing, building and testing their own toys. They have enjoyed experimenting with different ideas, seeing what works and making changes to improve their designs. It has been fantastic to see their curiosity and excitement as they learn through exploring, creating and having fun!
