Year 5, Year 6 and Year 7 Concerts

Rejoice in the Lord always ... Philippians 4:4

There was much rejoicing and celebration last week with performances in the Year 5, Year 6 and Year 7 Concerts. This was an opportunity for students to share with parents and peers their progress in learning an instrument as part of the Year level Music Instrumental Program.

The Year 5s performed for the first time in a band and each section gave a demonstration, explaining how the instrument is played. The Junior Concert Band also performed, to show how the Year 5s can be involved next year in the ensemble program, and, as a source of motivation, the Senior Concert Band performed.

The Year 6 Concert commenced with the Senior Concert Band and two works performed by a combined Junior and Senior Concert Band. The Year 6s impressed with Concert Band arrangements and small ensemble presentations. There was also a presentation from Sinfonia, to give the Year 6s more information as to what is on offer in Year 7.

The Year 7 Concert also featured our Senior ensembles, as well as the Middle Years auditioned ensembles, with many Year 7 students performing in these ensembles. The beginner classes on flute, reed woodwind, percussion and brass showed a captivated audience their progress in groups and then performed as a band. The Year 7 Band, comprising those students who have been playing for 2 – 3 years on their chosen band instrument, impressed all with their Intermediate Concert Band repertoire. Alannah M (11.15) gave some inspiring words to encourage Year 7 students to continue their involvement in the Music program at Oxley Christian College.
