Junior Visual Arts
Throughout Visual Arts lessons in the Junior School this year, students have observed and responded to artwork, developed knowledge of art elements and principles, and created work in the disciplines of drawing, collage, painting, printmaking, textiles, construction and modelling.
Students have been inspired by well-known art movements and styles (such as Folk Art, Pop Art, Indigenous, Contemporary and Abstract Art), as well as local, national and international artists, including Casey Manson, Andria Beighton, Deb McNaughton, Andy Warhol and Albert Namatjira, among others.
Students have gone from strength to strength as they have applied the skills learned, and their hard work has made for some beautiful backdrops in the art room and corridor of the Junior School Upper Primary Building. The execution of these stunning sunsets, ghost gum trees, animals, insects, jellyfish, ice-creams, abstract canvases and collages are just a sample of some of the learning and incredible artwork produced this semester.
Whilst 3D work is sent home after displays are taken down, all 2D artwork will go home with your child in their brown folio after their last lesson of the term. Be sure to spend some time with your child viewing and discussing (and maybe hanging up?) their masterpieces and encourage them to continue creating throughout the Christmas break!
