Nossal Environmental Summit – Tackling Food Waste

On Friday 5th September, six student sustainability leaders and champions visited Nossal High School for their annual Sustainability Summit. This year, the focus was on fighting food waste. Students participated in workshops and listened to members from the City of Casey about how to reduce their own food waste at home and at school. Here are a few things that they learnt:

Things you can do to reduce using or bringing unnecessary food packaging home:

• Buy in bulk
• Re-use ziplock and other plastic bags, and foil
• Bring your own drink bottle to school and events
• Bring your own containers to get take away food and drink. Some places give you a 50 cent discount for bringing your own cup for coffee!
