Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians, Staff, and Community Members

As Term 3 comes to a close, we have had some memorable experiences across our Kambrya Community, albeit in a shorter 9-week term. From exciting camps and cultural exchanges to classroom achievements and creative projects, School Production, Evening of Impact, chess tournaments, debating competitions, book week, Kambrya’s got talent, Staff v Student sports matches and much more. Our students and staff have embraced every opportunity with effort and enthusiasm.

A big thank you to our families, teachers, and support staff for your continued dedication and positivity. We look forward to an exciting Term 4 ahead as we close out our 2025 academic year and start our 2026 commencement program.

PRODUCTION

The annual musical production “High School Musical” wrapped up over 2 weeks ago, and it’s fair to say they have once again shown us that performing arts continues to excel at Kambrya College! They had many sold out shows across the week, which were all a great success. A huge congratulations to all the students who made up the cast and crew, and also to all of the hard-working staff who gave their time to the production. Special thanks to Ms Leya Mackus, Mr Adrian Violi, and Ms Liz Violi for their amazing efforts to lead the show.

After our production, the cast a crew took 2 songs from the show to Schools on Stage at Bunjil Place, in which we took home the award for Best Song. A huge reward for everyone’s hard work.

 YEAR 12 STUDENTS

Our amazing Year 12 students are almost at the end of their secondary school journey. Our VCE VM Year 12’s have recently been completing their final graduation/portfolio interviews while our VCE students are preparing for their examination period. We wish them all the very best in their final chapter and we look forward to celebrating with them on their celebration day and Valedictory evening.

Special thanks to all the Year 12 teachers who have been supporting them all year.

JAPAN CULTURAL TRIP

After a long hiatus, it was wonderful for our Kambrya College staff and students to head off last week to visit our sister school, Sakuranomiya High School in Japan for a week-long cultural exchange. The warm hospitality and enriching experiences that will be shared by our hosts will make the visit truly memorable.

We are incredibly grateful to Sakuranomiya High School for welcoming us so generously, and we look forward to hosting their students and staff again in the future. A heartfelt thank you to Ms Ania Siwicki, Ms Melissa Dixon, Ms Sarah Thomson and Ms Kelly Kinsella who went above and beyond to organise and attend this fantastic exchange opportunity.

CAMPS

Our Year 7 and Year 8 students had an unforgettable time at camp this term. From outdoor adventures to team-building activities, both camps were full of fun, growth, and new friendships.

A huge thank you to our staff and camp organisers for making it such a memorable experience.

UNIFORM

It is fantastic to see so many students in our new rugby jumpers and other items, but disappointing that some students are still continuing to ignore our policy by wearing non uniform items. Please make sure that your child is continuing to adhere to our uniform policy as we move into hopefully our warmer time of year.

There will be further announcements around our uniform early in term 4.

GWONAWA TOILET BLOCK

Throughout Term 3, we’ve continued to see misuse of the Gwonawa toilet block, with students frequently congregating and using the space inappropriately. To address this issue, the toilet block will undergo renovations in Term 4 aimed at improving functionality and eliminating areas that encourage loitering. During this time, temporary toilet facilities will be placed in the yard to ensure students continue to have access to adequate amenities. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to create a safer and more respectful environment for all.

SCOOTERS AND BIKES

I have been contacted by Victoria Police who were following up from concerned residents around inappropriate use of bikes and scooters on footpaths and roads. A reminder to all parents to please have a discussion with your child about the safe use of these when out in the community. Please also check that your child has a helmet and enforce that they wear it to and from school. Not only because it is the law, but obviously for their safety. Victoria Police have mentioned they will be monitoring closer around the start and end of the school day.

Students have also been reminded that they must place their scooters or bikes within our bike shed. We have had some students that have been chaining their bikes to external fences on the footpaths. This is interfering with our public entrances and exits. Students placing their bikes in these locations will have them removed.

CAR PARKING

I know that traffic is difficult in this area, however I implore all parents to please ensure that you do not contribute to safety issues. Please do not use the college carparks or bus stops at the front of the school for drop off/pick up.  Please do not double park. Please do not use the medical centre car park for your drop off/pick up point. Please attempt to use agreed drop off/pick up points with your child(ren) in some of the surrounding streets; picking up at the front of the school is not the only option! The council are enforcing parking laws and are issuing fines.

Please all have a safe and happy break. See you all again in Term 4.
