Health/Wellbeing

As we head into the final stretch of Term 3, the Wellbeing Team is pleased to share highlights of our recent activities, new partnerships, and upcoming events. Together, these initiatives continue to strengthen student wellbeing, celebrate diversity, and promote an inclusive school culture.
Reflection on Term 3 Activities
Wear It Purple Day
This year’s Wear It Purple Day was celebrated in the library with mindfulness colouring activities and information sharing about local supports for LGBTQIA+ young people. The day reinforced the importance of visibility, respect, and allyship, reminding our students that they are seen and valued for who they are. It was fantastic to see so many students engaging in conversations and learning how to support their peers.
Marrung Community of Practice at Kambrya College
We were proud to host the Marrung Community of Practice meeting, bringing together nearly 30 representatives from local primary and secondary schools. The session provided an opportunity to share strategies, celebrate progress, and strengthen collaboration across schools. One of the highlights was hearing from two of our own Koorie students, who spoke powerfully about their lived experiences. They shared how they stay connected to culture, how their identity shapes their learning, and how the school supports them. Their voices provided invaluable insight into how we can continue to grow as a culturally safe and responsive school community.
R U OK? Day
During Week 8, our community came together to remind each other that every day is the right day to ask “R U OK?”. Students had the opportunity to join a health pop up activity focused on the importance of self-care and wellbeing. The event encouraged everyone to take small steps to look after their mental and physical health, reminding us that caring for ourselves helps us to better support others too. In the context of RUOK? Day, the activity highlighted how checking in with ourselves is just as important as checking in with friends-because self-care is the foundation for meaningful connections and positive mental health.
Foodbank Partnership
This term, we joined with Foodbank, which is working with all Department schools to ensure students have access to food when they need it. This partnership strengthens our wellbeing framework, recognising that good nutrition underpins student learning, concentration, and engagement.
Book Week – Wellbeing Goes Minions!
To celebrate Book Week, our wellbeing team got into the spirit by dressing up as the beloved Minions and Gru from Despicable Me. It was a joyful way to connect with students and staff, and a reminder that creativity, fun, and shared laughter are also essential parts of wellbeing.
Wellbeing Tip – Self-Care for the End of Term
As we approach the final two weeks of Term 3, it’s normal for students and staff to feel a little tired. Practising small acts of self-care can make a big difference:
Rest: Aim for consistent sleep and downtime.
Move: Go for a walk, stretch, or play a game outside.
Connect: Spend time with friends, family, or someone you trust.
Reflect: Celebrate what you’ve achieved this term, big or small.
The upcoming school holidays are an important chance to recharge, so we encourage everyone to take time to look after themselves.
