Physical Education on Springvale Campus

District Athletics Preparation!
Students in the SLC at Springvale Rise Primary School have been working hard as they prepare for the upcoming District Athletics event. Over the past few weeks, students have been developing their skills across a range of running and field events.
Our focus has been on refining athletic techniques and learning strategies that help improve performance. During training sessions, students have practised correct running technique, focusing on posture, arm movement and stride to help them run more efficiently.
A big part of our preparation has been circular relay practice. Students have been learning how to perform a smooth baton changeover at speed using the downward pass method. This requires teamwork, timing and clear communication between runners. It has been great to see students encouraging one another and working together to improve their relay results.
Students have also been building their skills in a variety of field events. In long jump, they have been learning how to develop a strong run-up and take-off to maximise their distance. In shot put, students have focused on correct grip, stance and pushing technique to generate power safely. During discus, they have practised controlled throwing techniques, working on balance and rotation to improve both distance and accuracy.
Students have also been setting personal fitness goals for a chosen athletic event. By setting goals and reflecting on their progress, they are learning how athletes improve through practice, determination and teamwork.
We are proud of the effort, sportsmanship and enthusiasm shown by our SLC students during training and we look forward to seeing them represent our school at District Athletics. Good luck to all competitors!
