Highlights from Heights
The Specialist Programs at Springvale Rise Primary play an important role in providing students with a well-rounded education. These classes support creativity, physical development, environmental awareness and language learning, while giving students valuable opportunities to explore their interests and strengths beyond the classroom.
In Art, students across all year levels, have been developing their collage skills. Our junior students have been practising cutting and arranging shapes to create imaginative artworks. In the Middle Learning Centre (MLC), students have been exploring the work of renowned artists Gustav Klimt and Alphonse Mucha, using their styles as inspiration to create detailed collage postcard portraits. In the Senior Learning Centre (SLC), students have been creating expressive collage self-portraits that showcase both creativity and individuality.
In Sport, students have been building their athletics, skills, including hurdles, sprints, relays, throws and jumps. MLC and SLC students have been training in preparation for the Division Athletics event held on Thursday 19th. The students demonstrated enthusiasm, persistence and teamwork as they represented our school.
Our Environmental Science program has seen students actively involved in clearing and replanting the vegetable gardens around the school. Students have been learning to identify common weeds, understand the importance of maintaining garden spaces, and develop practical skills in planting seedlings.
In LOTE, our Foundation Learning Centre (FLC) students have been learning how to greet others, while MLC students are developing their conversational skills. SLC students are building their confidence in speaking about themselves, including sharing their interests and preferences in Vietnamese.
This week our School Captains and Vice Captains had the chance to learn outside the school when they attended the Melbourne Primary Dream and Lead Conference in the city. Travelling by train, they spent the day developing their leadership skills, including recognising their strengths, identifying areas for growth, confidently sharing ideas and working collaboratively with other student leaders. They also explored ways they can make a positive difference within our school community.
Finally we are all looking forward to celebrating Harmony Day on Wednesday 25th March. The day will include a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony and a Harmony Day Parade. We warmly encourage families to join us for this important event as we celebrate diversity, inclusion and belonging within our school community.
