Stop-Work Action on Tuesday 24 March 2026

The Australian Education Union (AEU) has indicated that it intends a full-day stop work on Tuesday 24 March 2026. At this stage we do not know the exact impact on our school’s operations although we anticipate that significant numbers of school staff will be taking strike action and there will therefore be disruptions to classroom programs on the day.

Our school is currently working through our operating arrangements for that day.  We will ensure we communicate to you any change of operating arrangements via Compass and email by 2pm, and through a printed notice sent home with students at 3:30pm, on Monday 23 March.

If you plan to keep your child at home on Tuesday, please contact the school office to let us know of their pending absence.  Thank you for your understanding.

School Council Office Bearers Elected

As is customary at this time of year, our 2026 School Council held its first meeting on Wednesday night, where office bearers were elected. I’m pleased to confirm that Ms Louisa Willoughby has been re-elected as School Council President, with Mrs Shilpa Mattepally elected as Vice President. Jess Tang will again serve as Treasurer, and we welcome Ms Rajwinder Kaur to the role of Secretary.

We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and supportive School Council. Springvale Rise Primary School truly benefits from their ongoing commitment.

Reminders for Parents and Guardians

At this time of the year, we also always remind our school community that parents and guardians of students who do not have student accident insurance are responsible for paying the cost of any medical treatment, including the cost of ambulance attendance / transport and any other transport costs, if required.  Please note that parents and guardians can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers if they so desire.

All parents, guardians and staff are also reminded that the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought into schools and it has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property.  Therefore, we encourage families to ensure their children do not bring expensive toys / phones to school.

Cultural Diversity Week / Harmony Day Community Celebration

Just a reminder that our Cultural Diversity Week / Harmony Day celebrations is fast approaching.

Heights Campus Parade - Wednesday March 25th

Springvale Campus Parade   - Thursday March 26th

This community celebration is one of our signature events - and we just cannot wait! Don't forget to wear traditional dress.

We are also inviting families to bring along a small plate of traditional food to share at our Community Morning Tea that will be held in the Community Hub on both campuses.
