Environmental Group

The Environmental Council is preparing for a very productive Term 2 this year. The council plans on continuing current projects and expanding our horizons to continue shaping those activities.

On the scale of smaller projects, we will be continuing the planting of seeds to utilise the productive environment fostered by Spring weather, as well as continuing to work on the bird feeders outside Lab 5. However, the largest project is the 10 cent recycling. Recently, the Environmental Council were sent the statistics detailing our 10c recycling initiative - showing we have raised over $240 so far through our collection of almost 2,500 cans, bottles, and juice boxes.

To continue our success in this project, we encourage all staff and students to continue their usage of the 10c bins placed around the school at the Rosary, Yurrandaali room, Quad, Canteen and Oval. Moreover, we would also like to continue this initiative by affirming that staff and students can also dispose of their 10c recycling materials within the black or cardboard recycling bins placed in each classroom. This ensures that recycling opportunities are easily accessible for both staff and students, further boosting contributions to funds raised by the 10c bottles.

To further support these projects, we encourage any students looking to engage in community service, social connection and environmental welfare to join the Environmental Council weekly on Thursday’s second break - we are always looking for new volunteers to assist in our various bird feeding, seed planting and recycling initiatives.
