R U OK? DAY

Brighton Secondary College recently came together to recognise R U OK? Day, providing an opportunity for students and staff to connect, check in and reflect on the importance of looking out for those around us.

The day commenced with a special whole-school assembly in The Gym, focusing on the importance of noticing when someone may be struggling, starting a conversation, listening and helping people connect with support when needed. Families were also invited to join us for the assembly, further strengthening the sense of community around this important message.

At lunchtime, students were invited to ‘Check In Over a Snag’, enjoying a free sausage while catching up with friends and taking the opportunity to have a conversation and check in with one another.

Our VM students also helped bring the day to life with a range of activities in D Block, including face painting, games, cupcakes and biscuits. Students were encouraged to make a $2 donation, with proceeds supporting R U OK?

More than just a day of activities, R U OK? Day provided a valuable reminder that meaningful connection can make a difference. Whether it is asking a friend how they are going, taking the time to listen or simply being there for someone, small moments of connection can have a lasting impact.
