Engage in 2026

Starting in Term 2, Fitzroy High School ran a specialised program for a group of Year 8 students. The program, called Engage, aimed to reinforce, complement, and extend the school's initiatives for physical, social, and emotional development.
Participants met every Friday for Session 3 over 10 weeks. Many sessions combined collaborative activities, reflective opportunities, and group discussions to build self-awareness and relational understanding. The program also featured physically demanding excursions, including rock climbing, hiking, and surfing, all intended to challenge participants and push them out of their comfort zones. In our final session, participants had a chance to reflect and share their ‘moment’ from the program; this included standing on a surfboard in the ocean, reaching the roof on a difficult indoor climb, navigating a tricky hiking descent, and building relationships with others in the group.
A big thank you to Adam and the school for providing resources to deliver the program. Huge thanks also to Linda E, Sam W, Roxanne H and Shannon G, who enthusiastically assisted with our excursions. Lastly, massive thanks to the students who participated in the program – cheers again for the great memories; it was an absolute pleasure getting to know you all.
