Principal's Report

To all the members of our Fitzroy Community. As Term 3 comes to a close many staff and students are very much looking forward to the school holidays. Term 3 is always the busiest term in a school, it is when students are asked to really step up their learning, for our VCE students it is the final moment they can get their course work knowledge up to scratch before they head into Exam season and for the staff alongside all of the work of their day to day teaching we move into planning for the coming year. So the break between Term 3 and Term 4 is always a welcome one.
And it is no wonder that everyone is feeling a little bit exhausted. In this newsletter you will be able to read about all of the highlights of the term and if you go through the list you can see all of the great opportunities that our students have had. We have had the school production running in South Yarra, we have had Live @ Wurun showcase all of our amazingly talented musicians. Our Debating teams have been competing with schools from across the region, our sports teams have been out testing their skills. We have celebrated NAIDOC week, Wear it Purple Day, Science week, Book week and RUOK day.
At the end of this term I will have completed a full year as the principal which is hard to believe as I still feel like I am just getting to know the place. For me personally it has been a great year and I have thoroughly enjoyed becoming part of this great community. It feels like over the past 12 months we have made some really positive changes and we are starting to see signs of those changes taking effect. In what is an early positive sign the number of student enrolments for Year 7 next year is the highest it has been in 4 years.
I hope you enjoy reading the articles about this busy term and we look forward to seeing all of our students back at FHS for Term 4.
