Interschool Sport

Darebin Division

Years 7-10 students this term will have the opportunity to participate in Basketball, Table Tennis and Hockey events at Darebin Division level. As always there has been plenty of interest from students in trying out for the teams. The Y9/10 sides have competed at the Basketball and Table Tennis event days already, performing very well at each!

North Metro Region

Our Year 11/12 teams that competed in their events in week 3 were outstanding, achieving three pennants!

Y11/12 Boys Netball - Runner up

Well done also to our Y9/10 Girls Soccer team for winning their NMR event in week 5 of term! A terrific achievement from the squad that has excelled in each of their years at Thornbury so far. State Finals are next up, in September.

State Finals

The SSV State Cross Country Championships were held at Yarra Valley Racing Club on Thursday July 16. We had three students competing, who were all exceptional! 

Evan Kondys: 2nd in 15/16 years girls multi-class race

Maddie Carr-Howes: 11th out of 86 runners in the 13 years girls race

Aiden Hickmott: 23rd out of 90 runners in the 13 years boys race

A huge congratulations to our Y11/12 Boys Badminton squad for an outstanding performance at the State Finals at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre! The team brought their absolute best to the court, battling hard through a competitive field to advance to the Semi Finals, where they were defeated by Maribrynong College. Beyond our team’s impressive athletics skills, what truly set them apart was their exceptional character. This was then formally recognised by our school winning the School Sport Victoria 'Spirit of Sport’ award at the State event. The criteria for this award is based around the themes of respect, integrity and leadership, and is voted on by all the competing schools. A fantastic achievement!
