Student Volunteer Umpiring for local Primary School Sports – Paynesville and West Bairnsdale
A generous number of students kindly volunteered time out of their busy school commitments to umpire Netball, Soccer and AFL for many of our local primary schools in the Winter Sports competitions. We recognise the value in giving back to the community and the importance of building solid community relationships. Thank you to the following students – Sylah, Annabell, Issabell, Sophie, Rianna, Ella, Sarah, Jax, Jack, Flynn, Ashton, Ben, Cooper, Wilton, Kane, Pippa, Raiven, Katie, and Anna.
Gippsland Senior Girls AFL – Sale
After progressing through to regional level with a solid win against Nagle College, the Senior Girls Team won the first of three games against Bass Coast College. Setting the tone of 'all for one and one for all', this team just gave it their all in the rain against Lowanna College who proved to be quite the opposition. Narrowly losing to them, our girls never backed down throughout the competition, finishing on a high and beating Catholic College Sale to claim 2nd place.
We are thrilled to see such talented students come together and represent themselves and our College with such enthusiasm.
East Gippsland Cross Country
The Lakes Entrance Golf Course was drenched in sunshine for the district Cross Country Championships last Monday 26th May. 32 students made the most of the near perfect conditions, pushing themselves along the 3km and 5km courses to record very impressive times. Congratulations to Juliette, Rita, Olive, Patrick, Campbell, Yianni, Ahren and Jay who earned podium placings in their races - very impressive.
Our focus turns to Drouin next week where 29 students qualified for the regional championships which is equally as impressive. Good luck!
East Gippsland Senior Table Tennis – Bairnsdale Table Tennis Centre
A solid performance from Zaylen, Ashley, Mitchell and Kaden who won their way through to the regional level later next month. We will see them training regularly from now on at school. We wish them good fortune in the next competition.
State Swimming Championships – MSAC Albert Park
We would like to take this chance to celebrate 2 of our very talented swimming athletes who competed in the State level competition on 1st May. Year 8 student Cooper placed 4th in both his events just out of the medals. He swam a massive 4.15 sec PB in the 50 backstroke and a 0.37sec PB in the 50 free in a very close swim only 0.89 of a second off 1st place swimming 28.72. His older sister Ashley in Year 12, placed 5th in 50 free with a great PB also of 1.06sec.
We cannot be prouder of our representative athletes making it to the top level of their chosen school sports, without their training and dedication they would not be rewarded with these fantastic opportunities.
