The following has been written by students in the class:
“This year so far has been pretty good. Our class has fun while learning new things and making new friends. We have great teachers and great LSA’s who help us with our learning. I think most of the class has settled in and everyone has found their group of people.”
Maddie
“I have had a good year so far and I like all the teachers. My favourite subjects are Maths and Food Tech. I have made a some new friends and I am still friends with my old friends. I enjoy coming to school so I can see my friends, and to learn new things.”

MATHS
This term, in Mathematics, we have been looking at Measurement and Geometry. We have explored how these skills can be used in a range of applications, including sports, packaging, and design. Shortly, we will be moving on to Statistics and Probability and Algebra, with a continual focus on important Number concepts such as Multiplication tables. Students will be learning how to pose questions, collect answers and analyse the responses to better understand their local community. Homework for mathematics consists of a take home sheet, MyNumeracy, incomplete multiplication tables work and, at times, student specific work.
ENGLISH
In 7J English, we have been focusing on analysing Margaret Wild texts. We've been discovering and forming predictions, thoughts, opinions, and connecting with different story books. We have then been relating these to our own lives and perspectives, to think and connect to the stories on a deeper level.
HUMANITIES
In Humanities, 7J have just finished a geography unit on Water in the World. A highlight was creating a presentation on a local river. Students researched this important resource for communities and how its use has changed over time. Currently, 7J have time-travelled back to Ancient Egypt and are looking forward to learning about pharaohs, pyramids, mummification and the Nile River in our history unit.
SCIENCE
7J has been diving into the world of forces in Science. We've been exploring key concepts such as gravity and friction, and students have been identifying how these forces affect their daily lives.
To bring our learning to life, students have been engaged in hands-on activities—rolling marbles across different surfaces to observe how friction works and using everyday classroom items to model levers in action. It's been a fun and interactive way to connect scientific theory with real-world experiences!
FOOD TECH
The students made spiced apple muffins focussing on their measurements for all the spices required for their recipe.
