This year’s Reconciliation Week theme is Bridging Now to Next, reflecting on the ongoing connection between the past, present and future, and it calls on every Australian to step forward together. This year’s theme invites reflection on our shared past and working together towards a more united future. Our College celebrated Reconciliation Week with a whole school assembly where an amazing artwork completed by students and staff was revealed to be displayed in the Wurrin area.
If you would like to know more about the assembly please visit the Reconciliation page of this newsletter.
Please find attached a letter regarding events happening over the next 4 weeks to help with student's program selection for 2026. Please follow the Compass Newsfeed for upcoming events and individual interviews to be held on 25th and 26th June.
An assembly for all Year 10 students was held last week which included discussion on 2026 program selection.
On Wednesday 28th May, senior students attended a guided tour of the RAAF base. The tour included information session around careers available at the base - not only ADF positions, but also other trades, services and facilities that keep the base running.
Students took an interactive tour of the Monash University Campus, including the following facilities: Biomedicine Earth, Sciences Law – moot court, Teaching Faculty, Library Robotics Research facility, Sports facility, Technology and Design faculty and Halls of Residence.
They took part in a scavenger hunt, met with Monash Mentors and had lunch in the cafeteria. The excursion provided students with a huge insight into the facilities and programs available at Monash University. Students then visited Swinburne University campus for a brief tour.
YEAR 12 FOOD STUDIES
The students made Moroccan lamb hotpot and they loved the authentic flavours of this dish.
These students made Spicy chicken satay skewers with rice.
YEAR 10 AUTOMOTIVE
A new elective has been added to the subject list for Year 10 in 2026 - Scale Motorsports. Students in the current Year 10 Automotive class have participated in a trial of the program with great success. The subject gives students a hands-on opportunity to explore real-world engineering systems through the design, tuning, and testing of 1/8 scale nitro and electric vehicles. It supports the core aims of Design and Technology by promoting problem-solving, prototyping, data analysis, and iterative design.
Students have been learning about the Exhaust System. In this practical exercise, students removed the exhaust and patched a hole in the muffler, before installing the exhaust back on the car.
Well done to the Senior Girls AFL football team who were Runners up in the Gippsland Region Competition!
This year Harriet, Tahlia and Perry have been selected to participate in this year's DIY BIG FREEZE 11, held at the Bairnsdale football oval on 7th June. This event is held to fight the beast which is MND. MND is a progressive disease that gradually takes away a person’s use of their arms and legs, their ability to eat and swallow, their speech and ultimately, their ability to breathe.
We have started off strong getting our classmates, friends, family and community around us before we take our cold plunge and help raise as much funds as possible for this much needed cause. Now we are reaching out to you to help us along the way and contribute. We would greatly appreciate it if you could support us to help spread awareness and funds towards this horrible disease. Every dollar counts!
