Bogong Outdoor School VCE Camp

In the first week of Term 3, the VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies students set off to Bogong Outdoor School for an unforgettable week of study and snow.

Our adventure began on Monday with the journey to Bogong, teaming up with students from Echuca College for the trip. Upon arrival, we were lucky enough to get up close and hands-on with some incredible wildlife, including sugar gliders, pythons, and bearded dragons.

On Day 2, we hit the snow in full force—braving tough conditions on cross-country skis as we worked on building the skills we’d need for downhill skiing. Unfortunately, the wild weather meant our planned snow camping had to be called off.

Day 3 featured an exciting Rogaine and orienteering challenge in tough conditions.

Day 4 took us to the summit, where we learned and practiced downhill skiing skills, finishing the day cruising down the slopes—an absolute highlight for everyone.

This camp was an incredible opportunity. For many of us, it was our first time seeing snow, let alone skiing, and it’s an experience that will stay with us forever.

A huge thank you to the staff who made this possible. If you ever get a chance to go on a trip like this—take it. You won’t regret it!
