Campaspe Youth Summit Empowers Students to Create Change

Recently a small group of year 11 students including Maddie Howard, Paige Simmie, Will Hann, Evie Scoble, Kade Pearse, Zahara Ali and Rory Hayes attended the Campaspe Youth Summit.

Students from across the Campaspe region came together recently to take part in the 2025 Campaspe Youth Summit – a day dedicated to identifying and tackling the key issues facing young people in our communities.

Working in teams, students were challenged to think creatively and collaboratively, developing business ideas that addressed real-world problems experienced by youth. Each group then pitched their innovative solutions to a panel of community members, including local council representatives, business leaders, and youth support services.

The pitches showcased a wide range of thoughtful and inspiring ideas, such as:

  • Be Bold, Get Rid of Mould – Kade’s group focused on mould eradication in schools, aiming to improve student health and learning environments.
  • Helping Hands – Will’s initiative brought together young people to assist elderly community members with household chores while fostering meaningful companionship.
  • Youth Pathways – Evie’s project supported young people in discovering career options that align with their interests and strengths.
  • SCB – Stop Cyberbullying – Zahara’s team developed strategies to combat cyberbullying, creating safer online spaces for all students.

The summit not only highlighted the incredible ideas and empathy of our youth but also reinforced the importance of youth voices in shaping the future of our region. Congratulations to all participants for their passion, creativity, and commitment to positive change.

Thank you to the Campaspe Shire for supporting our students and offering programs for them to explore issues and opportunities outside of their school environment.
