Staff versus students basketball tournament: Students take the win!
On Thursday 19 June, the College gym came alive with excitement as the latest Staff vs Students basketball match took place. Held each term, these games bring together our incredible Year 12 students and staff for a fun yet fiercely competitive showdown.
Both teams brought great energy and teamwork, but the students came out on top with a 13–7 win. Their fast plays and sharp shooting made the difference, while the staff team put in a strong and determined effort.
It was a fantastic event that brought the College community together and highlighted the amazing talent on both sides. A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a memorable game!
Next up in the Staff vs Students series: volleyball. Get ready for another thrilling match and stay tuned to the Student Bulletin for all the details.
InterSchool Sport highlights: Year 7 soccer and AFL girls shine
This term, our Year 7 students showcased their sporting talents with impressive performances in both soccer and AFL competitions.
On 11th June, our Year 7 boys and girls soccer teams competed at the Cardinia Region Interschool Soccer Tournament held at Casey Fields. The teams played with great determination and teamwork, securing 2nd and 3rd places. Beyond their strong performances on the field, the students impressed with their exemplary behaviour and respect towards others, making the college proud. It was a fantastic effort all around and most importantly, the players had a lot of fun throughout the day. A big thank you to helpers Jordan and Tayeb for their excellent support and guidance to the teams.
On the 23rd June, our Year 7 AFL girls team went to Sweeney Reserve for the Cardinia Region Interschool AFL competition. The girls demonstrated outstanding team spirit and skill, along with excellent behaviour both on and off the field. Special thanks go to our AFL helpers, Harry and Jayden, whose support was invaluable to the team.
Well done to all our Year 7 athletes for representing the college with such pride and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing more fantastic performances in upcoming events!
Year 7 Netball program in full swing
Our Year 7 Netball program has been running strongly throughout the term, with a dedicated group of enthusiastic students showing great commitment to improving their skills. Led by highly respected coach David Sollberger from the Pakenham Lions Netball Club, the sessions take place every Thursday morning from 7:30am to 8:30am.
Throughout the term, students have shown noticeable improvement in their skills and game understanding, thanks to David’s expert coaching and the consistent support of Ms Rhodes-Anderson, who brings years of experience in Netball competitions.
We’re excited to continue the program into Term 3. The program is open to all Year 7 students, and newcomers are welcome to join at any time. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, feel free to contact Carolyn Fulgoni at carolyn.fulgoni@education.vic.gov.au, or students can speak directly with Ms Rhodes-Anderson.
Basketball skills on the rise thanks to Pakenham Warriors
We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of the Pakenham Warriors Basketball Club, who provide us with a fantastic coach every Friday morning - an experienced Championship player who brings both skill and guidance to our students.
The program is open to all students in Years 7–10. Thanks to the expert coaching, students have shown tremendous improvement in their skills and overall confidence on the court.
Training sessions take place every Friday morning from 7:45am to 8:30am in the gym. If you’d like to join in, simply come along, no registration is required. Just bring your runners!
We look forward to seeing even more students take part in this exciting opportunity to improve their game.
Regional cross country success
Well done to the students who took part in the Regional Cross Country event on Wednesday, 25th June at Balam Park. Students who placed highly in our School Cross Country earlier this term earned the opportunity to represent the college and compete against other schools from across the region.
It was a fantastic day of competition despite the bitterly cold and wet conditions, with our students putting in their best efforts on a tough course.
We’re proud of our students’ efforts and we look forward to receiving the official results from the organisers soon.
Looking ahead to Term 3 Sports
Next term is shaping up to be another exciting one for our Sports program, with many students set to compete in InterSchool Basketball across various year levels. We’re also preparing for the Regional Athletics Carnival, where our talented athletes will represent the college in a range of track and field events, not to mention our highly anticipated Staff versus Students volleyball tournament.
We wish all our teams and competitors the best of luck and look forward to cheering them on!
