Performing Arts

A huge month for Performing Arts

It’s been an incredible month in our Performing Arts department, packed with exciting events and unforgettable performances! From the Year 9 Performing Arts Showcase to our Semester One Year 9 Drama class presenting their play at the Malthouse Theatre as part of the prestigious Suitcase Series and our Instrumental Music Showcase -  the energy has been electric. On top of all this, rehearsals for our College production are in full swing, with our talented cast, dedicated crew and brilliant set design team working hard to bring the show to life. We’re eagerly looking forward to the holiday rehearsals, which are always a highlight for everyone involved.

Year 9 Drama shines at the Malthouse Theatre

Congratulations to our Semester One Year 9 Drama class for their outstanding performance of ‘Planet in Peril Bulletin’ at the Malthouse Theatre on the 19th June. Their razor-sharp wit and hilarious satire earned glowing feedback from industry professionals. Comments included, “It was like I was stuck in a hilarious dystopian nightmare,” “You stabbed us in the face with your comedy,” and “You all should be comedy sketch writers.” We’re incredibly proud of our students! Read on for a firsthand report from one of our talented drama students.

A STUDENT'S PERSPECTIVE - SUITCASE SERIES AT THE MALTHOUSE THEATRE

The suitcase series was a program our year 9 drama class was involved in on the 19th of June at the Malthouse Theatre. The prompt of our performance was climate change, but the challenge is we create our own script, and all props must be able to fit within a suitcase. This day was a fantastic opportunity to get involved with other schools and see their ideas. We worked on this over term 2 in our class as well as a few recess rehearsals. This event turned out to be great and we are so grateful for the chance to do it!

Performing Arts and Instrumental Music Showcases

A huge thank you to all the Year 9 students who lit up the stage at the Performing Arts Showcase at the beginning of the month. From the brilliantly delivered ‘Planet in Peril Bulletin’ to powerful performances by our bands, the talent and creativity on display were truly next-level.

Our Instrumental Music Showcase (held on 26th June) was equally astounding. Our gifted singers, guitarists, bass players and drummers performed with confidence and passion, leaving the audience amazed.

Shout outs and thank yous

A special thanks to all the students who performed. Your hard work, talent and passion brought each event to life. We also want to acknowledge our fantastic Performing Arts Captains - Kaneisha, Abbie and Jaxon - for hosting both the Performing Arts Showcase and Instrumental Music Showcase with style and confidence.

We would also like to thank Mr Southam (our vocal teacher), Ms Pattico (our bass and drums teacher) and Mr Silversten (our guitar teacher) for their expert guidance and support in preparing for our first Instrumental Music Showcase.

We also extend a huge thank you to Ms Lentini and Ms Hawking for their tireless dedication behind the scenes, making all these incredible events possible.

Finally, we are grateful to our wonderful community for their enthusiastic support and attendance. Your encouragement helps make our events truly special.
