Coach Mrs Nicola Roberts
Some of our students represented Peninsula at the Queensland School State Cross Country Championships last weekend – and they ran brilliantly.
A standout performance came from Lewis Williams, who finished with an impressive 3rd place, securing him a spot on the Queensland Team. Lewis will now represent the state at the national championships on the Gold Coast later this term – a phenomenal achievement and a testament to his dedication and hard work.
Another exceptional highlight was the 13 Years Boys Relay, held on the final day of the championships. In this event, each of the five team members runs a fast and challenging 1.5 km lap – and the Peninsula team absolutely dominated, winning the event by an extraordinary 32 seconds ahead of the other strong Queensland teams.
What makes this even more impressive is that four of the five runners in the winning Peninsula team are Saints boys. From the opening leg, the team charged ahead with each runner extending the lead, showcasing their strength, teamwork and determination.
In a separate event, held on the weekend of 12 July, three more of our boys qualified for the Queensland Club Cross Country Team. Ash Mayes, Yuri Lesic and Kobe Roberts all earned their spots and will go on to compete at the club nationals at the end of August. Special congratulations to Ash, who took home the bronze medal – an outstanding effort.
These are some remarkable results for our boys and reflect the outstanding running culture and talent within our college community. Congratulations to all involved.
During the holidays, Hamish Smallbane travelled to the Gold Coast to compete in the Surf Life Saving State Pool Rescue Championships. Facing strong competition in his age group, Hamish proudly brought home a gold and a silver medal.
Adding to this impressive achievement, Hamish has been selected to represent Queensland as part of the Cyclone State Team. He will head to Adelaide to compete at the National Championships from 8–10 August 2025.
Congratulations Hamish!
