Art Exhibit Excursions

During May, Fitzroy High School's art students were given the opportunity to visit exciting exhibitions and gain inspiration from professional artists and student artwork.

On 14 May, the Year 9 and 10 Extend Art students visited the Top Arts exhibition. Students viewed outstanding VCE work from across Victoria, including artwork by former Fitzroy High School student Ben B. The exhibition provided valuable insight into the high standard of work and folios produced by senior students, helping students understand the possibilities available to them as they continue their artistic studies.

On 22 May, Year 7 Art students visited a Shaun Tan exhibition at the Beinart Gallery in Brunswick. Students explored Shaun Tan's imaginative artworks and unique storytelling style, gaining inspiration for their own creative projects. Following the excursion, students began designing their own original characters influenced by the themes and ideas they encountered in the exhibition.

These excursions provided valuable opportunities for art students to experience creative work firsthand and deepen their understanding of artistic practice beyond the classroom.
